Fruit

Fruit is wonderful to eat year round.

Can we grow fruit in the state of Minnesota?

Yes!  What is the most popular?

Apples are most popular in Minnesota, but it’s possible to grow many other kinds of fruit trees.

Pear trees are fairly easy to grow and can live for a long time. You do need to plant two kinds of pears for pollination. Plums are very attractive ornamental trees which flower very early in the spring. Sweet cherries are not reliably hardy in Minnesota, but tart cherries are hardy throughout the state. Both trees usually have to be covered with nets to keep birds from eating the fruit.

There are at least three grocery stores for you to buy fruit in our CLUES neighborhood.

Practice your English by reviewing this slide presentation so you can recognize the fruit and use their proper name when you are shopping.  Click on the Image to View the Slideshow

Do you know your fruits? I hope so.  One of the fruits that can be grown in Minnesota was not pictured in the presentation.
